Playing to a packed theatre, student and staff bands entertained the crowds and in total raised over £1,400 for Children in Need. Student bands “Pipe Dream” and the “Condors” opened the event, which was compered by some of the student organisers, Lauren Franklin, Lucy Simmons and Danielle Cook. There were some excellent performances but it was the staff band, featuring Ms Kelly and Ms Segura, with Mr Swain, Mr Vosper and Mr Rowe that got the audience onto its feet. The evening ended with a set by local up and coming band “The Natives”.
Organised by the BSF Student Council, the event received additional publicity when Chris Penhall, from BBC Radio Essex, and Pudsey Bear arrived at rehearsals for a live interview with the organisers and performers. Additional funds were raised by a dress down day, cake sale and raffle with prizes, kindly donated by local businesses. The members of the Student Council were pleased to have ended their time in office with an event to remember – setting the bar high for the incoming Year 12 Student Council. Students involved in organising the concert were Danielle Cook, Jess Park, Lauren Franklin, Lucy Simmons, Robert Wyatt and Gemma Giorgio.
