At 2.15am on Thursday 14 February, nineteen Year 13 students met to travel to Heathrow Airport to start our American adventure. In the week that followed, the group visited two cities and walked over 60 miles.
The Model United Nations (MUN) society at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form has continued to grow this year. This is an extra-curricular group led by Braintree Sixth Form students, who this year have worked with a number of Year 11 students at Notley each week to develop their understanding of the MUN and to help them prepare for a conference.

On Wednesday 3 January, whilst we were still recovering from New Year celebrations, Years 12 and 13 were snapped awake by a Physical Theatre workshop led by Frantic Assembly’s Vicki Manderson.
Year 12 Braintree Sixth Form students took part in the Essex Roadster event today and all involved seemed to find the day constructive.
Braintree Sixth Form was well represented yesterday at the Braintree Post 16 Careers Fair by Verity Forster and Nabil Butcher who were on hand to inform the next generation of potential sixth form students about life at BSF.
On Wednesday 28 June, a group of Year 12 students travelled to the University of Essex to learn more about the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) process, as well as being given the opportunity to ask the ambassadors any questions.

Braintree Sixth Form hosted its annual Essex Roadster event on Friday 1 February 2019. The event is run in conjunction with Essex County Council and local driving school providers. The aim of the event is to heighten the awareness of road safety initiatives to our Year 12 students.
20 students from Years 11 and 12 went to the salubrious surroundings of the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury to hear a series of talks by real-life scientists and engineers working in the chemical field.
On the 3 May, forty Braintree Sixth Form students, accompanied by four of their teachers, went to the Cambridge Arts Theatre to see a production of Tennessee William’s A Streetcar Named Desire.
Charlotte Hughes, a former BSF student, progressed after the completion of her A-Level studies, to do a science apprenticeship with GlaxoSmIthKline.
We are very grateful to the Biochemistry Department at Broomfield Hospital who kindly donated several boxes of unwanted laboratory glassware to the school.
Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form were pleased to host Kamal Hyman for a series of motivational speeches which he delivered to Year 13, Year 12 and Year 10 on October 17.
Braintree Sixth Form celebrated their best ever International Baccalaureate (IB) results in July, with 100% of the Year 13 IB cohort passing the qualification. The highest points score was achieved by Tamsin Sprawling with 39 points. The average point score for the whole IB cohort was 32 points, above both national and international averages.
Students at Braintree Sixth Form are celebrating our best ever IB results with 100% of students obtaining the IB diploma at an average pass rate of 32.4 points.

On Tuesday 26 February 2019, 40 A Level Psychology students took the opportunity to visit Bethlem Museum of the Mind. The museum offered a glance of the longest-running mental health institution in the world. While at one time it was known as Bedlam, a repository of the mentally ill of London, Bethlem Royal Hospital is a world leader in the treatment of both minor and severe mental disorders.

On Sunday 8 October 2017, Year 13 students Leah Roby Smith and Ella Jones ran the Royal Parks half marathon in London to raise money for the charity Scope.
On Tuesday 18 July 2017 Year 12 had their final assembly of the year.
We are delighted to announce that Scarlett Perrin, a Year 13 student, is one of this year’s winners of the prestigious Diana Award. This is the 20th anniversary of this award and Scarlett is one of only 750 outstanding young people to have won this award from the UK and across the world.
On Thursday 22 June our annual UCAS Launch Day took place. The purpose of this day is to give students the chance to explore possible courses for their future but also prepare for the application process itself.
Year 12 psychology students have given a series of interesting presentations on a topic area of their choice, relating to psychological theory and research. They spent two weeks of lesson and home learning time to decide on an area, research the topic and then present back to their class.
Our new Year 12 Induction Day takes place on Monday 3 July 2017. A letter has been sent home with further details regarding the content of the day.
