Following some effective and entertaining presentations from the contenders, and a very close student vote, we are very pleased to appoint Charlotte Kerrell and Tony Upton as our Student Governors for the next academic year.
Year 12 IB students spent the first week of June in the Cevennes National Park, France. The student’s base was the brilliant Eagle’s Nest field centre, which is situated at an altitude of 1300m. The centre provided them with a variety of activities to complete as well as a constant supply of excellent food.
Year 12 students were developing their organisational, team working and communication skills by setting up their own small businesses with the aim of raising funds for the Sixth Form chosen charity “Education for All”.
On Wednesday 12 March Braintree Sixth Form’s Year 13 Economists attended a student conference in London.
On Wednesday 13 November, Year 12 took part in a Roadster event, led by Essex Highways.
We are delighted to announce our best ever IB results. Our staff and students were in the Sixth Form on Saturday morning to receive the news that we have a 100% pass rate in the Diploma this year.
Year 12 student James Meade has won the Jack Petchey award.
On Thursday 12 June AS Drama students put on a very powerful and professional performance of Oedipus Rex. The performance was a huge achievement and the audience were on the edge of their seats throughout.
On Tuesday 1 April students from Braintree Sixth Form attended a “Getting In” conference held at the University of Essex.
On Thursday 16 January a group of 35 AS and A2 Business Studies and Economics students visited the New Holland Tractor Plant in Basildon, Essex.
The Sixth Form Open Evening was busy as ever this year, as we welcomed Year 11 students from around 20 different secondary schools across the district.
We have been delighted to welcome back some past students of Braintree Sixth Form to offer support and advice to current students.
We were pleased to see so many students, families and friends at the Arts Festival on 12 June. Highlights included Art by GCSE and A-level groups and Textiles, Music Technology and DT work by A-level students.
On Thursday April 24 April Sixth Form students were privileged to attend a talk by Holocaust speaker Mr Otto Deutsch who spoke about his experiences of growing up in Nazi-occupied Austria and the Kindertransport. Students said they found the talk both interesting and thought-provoking.
On Monday 17 March 25 Geography students from Year 12 and 13 travelled to the field studies centre in Snowdonia National Park for a week to undertake fieldwork in preparation for their upcoming exams.
On Friday 10 January a group of 25 International Baccalaureate students visited the Science Museum, London.
Students and staff at Braintree Sixth Form are celebrating 100% pass rates at both A level and IB courses.
