Braintree Sixth Form Exam Results 2017

Braintree Sixth Form celebrated their best ever International Baccalaureate (IB) results in July, with 100% of the Year 13 IB cohort passing the qualification. The highest points score was achieved by Tamsin Sprawling with 39 points. The average point score for the whole IB cohort was 32 points, above both national and international averages.

Today Braintree Sixth Form are again celebrating some very strong A level and AS level results. This year sees the first results for the new reformed linear A levels. Over 96% of all grades were achieved at A*-E grades with over 35% of the results being the highest grades of A*-B. With an increasing intake to the sixth form we are delighted to be able to offer all the students in Braintree the opportunity to take A levels and progress to university, college and career based options. The results today are very well deserved by the students who have worked very hard and have been ably supported by both their teachers and parents and carers.

Many of our students are now looking forward to taking up places at university, both locally and further afield. Tamsin Sprawling who achieved 39 points in the IB is going to the Royal Agricultural University to study Rural Land Management. Jessica Firman achieved 38 points in the IB and will be studying English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Taylor Golden achieved A*AB and is waiting to confirm his university choice. Hannah Knock will be reading Biomedical Science at the University of Surrey after achieving A*AB at A level. Samuel Perry was awarded A*ABB and will read Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leeds. Eleanor Youngs achieved AABBC, including a B in the EPQ, and will study English and Journalism at Coventry University. Erin Knight will be studying Media, Culture and Society at Loughborough University after being awarded AABB. Lewis Dryden achieved AABB, including B in the EPQ, and will be joining Kent University to study Architecture next year. Lewis Cherry achieved A*AC and he is considering his future options. Lorna achieved ABBC and will be studying Liberal Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London, and Lucy achieved AAB and will be studying Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham.

David Conway, Headteacher of Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form commented “Braintree Sixth Form was set up to offer all local young people a progression route to university and other post 18 career options. It is great to see so many of our students achieving excellent grades and continuing on the next steps of their education and careers. Congratulations and good luck to them all.”
