You may already be aware that part of the government support package during the coronavirus pandemic is to provide all parents with children eligible for free school meals with a £15 voucher each week to help towards the additional cost of food from having your child/children at home.
To support you and your family through the COVID-19 pandemic, Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service has created a brand new resource hub.
We registered with the Government’s scheme for free school meals vouchers before the Easter holidays. We have received notification that they are pending, however due to the volume of schools also registering, there has been a delay in vouchers being despatched for the period 6 to 17 April 2020.

These changes cover all registered childcare providers (including nurseries and childminders), maintained and academy primary schools, maintained and academy secondary schools; special schools, further education colleges and independent schools.

Following the announcement from the Government that school closure will not be "an educational setting" but a "safe place" for critical workers to leave their children and the publication of the ‘key worker’ list, we need to collect details of which families fall into this group so we can plan accordingly.

Dear Year 13 Students, Parents and Carers
Following the announcement yesterday regarding school closures, partial opening and exams this summer, I want to update you on the situation at Braintree Sixth Form for Year 13 students in particular.
I appreciate this is a potentially worrying and unsettling time for Year 13 students and their families regarding the uncertainty of A Level and vocational examinations and grades.
You will probably all be aware of the announcement made regarding school closures from Friday 20 March 2020. We will consider the next steps and communicate with you as soon as possible.
The safety and welfare of students and staff are our highest priority.
Also, we would like to reassure all students preparing for public exams, that we will support them in achieving their next steps.

Students in Years 9 and 10
Following the Government advice relating to the COVID-19 virus yesterday, we have a large number of staff who are absent due to a variety of reasons. As a result, we have had to make the difficult decision to suspend the timetable for Years 9 and 10 students from Wednesday 18 March – Friday 20 March 2020. A decision on next week will be made as soon as possible.
Congratulations to Chloe Oxford, who has been offered a prestigious degree apprenticeship with the firm GSK.
On Wednesday 26 February 2020, 25 students went on a trip to see the West End production of ‘Les Misérables’ organised by the Sixth Form Musical Theatre Society.

We welcomed Vince Wolverson from the charity 'It's on the Ball' to the sixth form assembly on Tuesday 21 January 2020.
We welcomed two speakers to Notley High & Braintree Sixth Form on Tuesday 14 January 2020 to talk to students from Years 10 - 13 across the morning, with a focus on problem gambling and gambling addiction.
Two former Braintree Sixth Form students, Natacha Maurin and Sam Newman, came back to Braintree Sixth Form on 7 January 2020, to take an assembly on university life, UCAS applications and applications to Oxbridge in particular.
On Wednesday 18 December 2019, we celebrated Christmas with our annual Christmas lunch of roast turkey, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls, served with a selection of vegetables, followed by chocolate fudge cake – all complete with Christmas crackers.
We held a Christmas Jumper Day today, and raised £367.93 for the Save the Children Appeal. We are proud to have raised funds for the Save the Children Appeal which goes towards providing children with a better and brighter future both here in the UK and abroad.

On Tuesday 3 December 2019 we were delighted to welcome the BBC to Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form. The focus of the visit was the forthcoming General Election and the mock election being held in school on 12 December 2019.
One of the aims of the sixth form Personal Development programme is that students should know how to be 'enterprising in life and work' and we begin this in the Autumn Term for Year 12 with an enterprise challenge for the whole year group: to form a mini-business and seek to make a profit by holding an Enterprise Fair.
The Music Department will be holding its Christmas Concert on Tuesday 10 December 2019 at 7pm in Braintree Arts Theatre.
On Friday 15 November 2019, we held a non-uniform and dress down day for students and staff to raise money for Children in Need. We raised a sum of £1,327.70 for Children in Need.
We were delighted to welcome the Safer Essex Roads Safety Partnership again this year on 19 November for our annual 'Roadster' Day.
It was a great pleasure to welcome so many prospective sixth form students and their families to our Open Evening for Year 12 intake September 2020 on 6 November 2019.
Our Senior Leadership Team will be serving Christmas lunch in the dining hall and Café6 for staff and students on Wednesday 18 December 2019. This year’s Christmas lunch will cost £2.50 for the main meal and £1.00 for dessert.
